About Us

Who we are

At North Coast Pathway we are committed to the delivery of quality and a positive learning environment that meets the needs of our communities and to advancing the skills and capabilities of our students. We are a not for profit organisation and have been providing training at North Coast Community College since 1981. NCCC services students from Grafton to Ballina and beyond via online courses, with established training centres in Alstonville and Yamba. We continue to operate with dedicated staff, employ a suite of quality transfers and are guided by a voluntary Board.

Our mission

Our mission is to empower students in Years 9-10 to reconnect with education and community. We believe that every student should look forward to coming to school and that learning should be crafted around an environment that supports each individuals unique differences.

Curriculum

At North Coast Pathway, we’re committed to providing an educational experience that’s practical, flexible, and tailored to each individual student. That’s why we chose the ASDAN curriculum to focus on developing real-world skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving and budgeting.

Why ASDAN?

ASDAN takes a hands-on approach, engaging learners with relevant and motivating courses that lead to meaningful, transferable skills. Students work towards earning a Bronze or Silver Award, which helps build essential employability skills, boosts confidence, and develops valuable competencies. They also create portfolios to showcase their achievements, giving them strong foundation for further education, training, or employment.
ASDAN is aligned with the NESA syllabus, and at North Coast Pathway, we present six key learning areas: English, Mathematics, Science, PDHPE, Creative Arts, Human Society & Its Environment. While ASDAN is not accredited for the RoSA or HSC, students still meet mandatory schooling requirements and receive a certificate upon successful completion.

What is ASDAN?

ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) offers a wide range of qualifications and courses, all of which are globally recognised in over 40 countries, including the UK, Europe, Australasia, Africa and beyond. ASDAN is a UK-based charity that develops and awards qualifications for young people.

Pathways

After completing the program at North Coast Pathway, students are encouraged to continue their learning journey in undertaking the foundation skills qualifications at North Coast Community College. From there, they can progress into vocational education and training (VET). In partnership with TAFE, students can pursue their careers through a certificate-3 qualification, apprenticeship or traineeship, or the Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TAFE’s Year 12 equivalent).
At North Coast Pathway, we prepare students for success beyond school, providing wrap-around support and helping learners achieve their individual goals.

Syllabus and subject offering: ASDAN

At North Coast Pathway we are proud to partner with ASDAN as our curriculum provider.

The programs are designed for learners to understand and take responsibility for the learning from rich activities – rather than simply to experience them.

The innovative programs are intended to engage and inspire students through flexible, practical and hands-on experiences.

The expected outcomes are for personal skills development which includes independent learning for further education, training and work.

* North Coast Pathway is a registration only school and it is ineligible to enter students for the Record of School Achievement.  The ASDAN course meets the minimum curriculum for secondary school students in NSW.
